Thanks!

Both the Laer and Tweechi were sketches I made some 20 - 30 years ago, dug them up out of some of my old folders, and worked them up into a proper illustration just this year.

Since you're a fan of the Tweechis, here's the full description

Curious and Fascinating! Do they use those forward mounted hand like appendages as 'air brakes' or flaps?

That's a really good piece of alien physiology there. Balanced against human norms while still being completely strange. And the art sells it.

Thanks! It's fun coming up with this stuff.

I imagine they would. I could see them splaying out their "mouth-hands" when coming in for a landing. It's not much, but any little bit helps.

Unless they are using their mouth hands to hold something when flying. Big things they hold with their rear grippers, of course, but anything requiring fine manipulation (guns, binoculars, ...) would use up the mouth-hands. They use their grippers to hold, drop, and fling spears and nets while in flight, but that is less useful now that they have access to disruptors and tangler warheads.

Thanks!

I just finished this one, from the same planet, but I'm not as happy with it (although it does have a cool aircar design)
