Art on the Companion Cover
I'm almost afraid to start another discussion of art, but I did want to praise SJG for choosing to use the Octopo art on the cover of the Companion -- I think it's perfect, and removes the idea that it might have something to do with the coming game components -- even if it IS foreshadowing something else in the future. (Though, in the interim, you might have to offer a stretch goal down the line of "Five Unusual Wizards" in order to "explain" to the customer why that art's on there!)
I think that Octopo necromancer is a brilliant and highly evocative piece of art (in fact, it vaguely reminds me of the cover of that old game Necromancer that you guys used to publish back in the early days; though that's probably just the skeletons talking...). Anyway, excellent choice for the Companion's cover, to my mind! |

Re: Art on the Companion Cover
I mistook the illustration as the one for the GM screen in an earlier post. But I agree, this is painting is pretty good. This picture, some of the other recent art teasers, and the leak that we might actually see a Liz Danforth painting on the Wizard cover suggests that the visual aesthetics of the final product are going to be good.

Re: Art on the Companion Cover
It's my favorite of the art I've seen so far. :)

Re: Art on the Companion Cover
I'm also a big fan of the octopus piece. Nice!
I also kinda like Tollenkar's, as much as I'm not a big fan of just having some dude in a robe standing there (not the most exciting). But... I still like the look of it. So, Octopus and Tollenkar's Lair are my 2 fave covers so far. Hopefully there are more nice surprises to come re: the Melee/Wizard covers. |

I would also like to vote for the Octopus Necromancer as the best art so far. There's so many interesting elements to it. More like this, please.

Re: Art on the Companion Cover
Seems that the Octopus is becoming an icon of the Legacy Edition...and why not?

Re: Art on the Companion Cover
That was intentional. It is not the only piece of TFT art we have posted that has a connection to earlier SJGames works. And it is unlikely to be the last; we're having fun over here.
