Situation in which i struggled to determine who was correct
Hello All, I'd like to thank anyone who takes the time to read and answer my questions in advance. I'm very new to the game (3 games in) and absolutely love it so far.
Scenerio: (may be a bit fuzzy on details because I don't have the cards memorized yet) Will is in combat with a monster that does +4 damage to elves (which he is) Mike plays the card that allows him to steal the battle and fight it himself. Mike specifically asks everyone what combat level he needs to be at to succeed, everyone answers the base level not including the +4 to elf because they didn't see that Mike was an elf as well. All opponents missed this and Mike didn't bring it up; so he won the battle. A few rounds later Mike tells us because he wasn't sure if it was legal or not. So, munchkinly maneuver? or Cheating Thanks, booooooom |

Re: Situation in which i struggled to determine who was correct
If Mike intentionally ignored the bonus against Elves, he was cheating. If he wasn't paying attention and overlooked it, write it off as "still learning" and move on.
The Munchkin rules don't suggest any specific penalties for cheating, not because we think cheating is OK but because we think each individual group should figure out how best to deal with the problem. In this case, if Mike did intentionally cheat, I think the minimum appropriate penalty would be for Mike to forfeit the level gained from the fight plus the Treasures -- and if those Treasures were already used, lose other Treasures of equivalent or greater utility.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I got caught up in feeling dumb for not noticing myself and figured it's up to the other players to hold everyone accountable. I'll be sure to let everyone know that sneaking stuff like that by is in fact cheating, not just "part of the game". Thanks again! booooooom |
