Re: Treasure Generator
With their permission, though. You'd have to ask Armin about the exact details.
I'd take another stab at redoing mine in a more accessible format but I really don't have the time right now.

Re: Treasure Generator
I started working on something like this for Inspiration Pad Pro, but I think I'll end up changing to Visual Basic or something so I can actually finish it without all the headache.
I'm also working on a utility to help run GURPS with all the options turned on, a utility to be used during the game. Things like the advanced injury rules. So far I've been concentrating more on the software for personal use, because I think it will replace the need for using the rulebooks a lot. That and I'm learning how to program along the way and am a bit embarrassed if I were to release something to the public with sub-par performance. -Joshua Last edited by Enoch; 11-02-2010 at 01:38 PM. DF 8 is a brilliantly useful book, but would be even more so with some of the tasks automated. I wonder how much trouble copywrite issues would be. Knowing nothing about the game business, I would have thought that the program would be a good advert for the book, which, after all, lets you design treasures as well as roll them. Maybe it would be possible to reverse engineer the book from the program, but someone who would do that would just pirate the book.

Re: Treasure Generator
Well, I tried to model it (didn't go beyond starting the data modeling) and it's way too quicky. Some things are left to the discretion on the user. For example, it's not always clear if some items are hard or soft, for the Embellishments table. You can have modifications that add to the base cost, add to the final cost, add CF, add CF to the part that was added to the final cost (like things that add CF to enchantments), etc etc... It's quite good to use the book at the gaming table (and it's one of the few GURPS PDFs that I consider absolutely necessary to print and bind, since the dead tree format is much more convenient, given the amount of page turning needed.
Now, an Android/iOS app that did worked as the proposed hoard generator would be great. |

Re: Treasure Generator
I tried the same thing in IPP, but the program's inability to understand negative numbers was a complete blocker. Over the summer, I stopped work on the project to get an instructor certification. Now that it's winter, I might go back to the treasure table generator - I'll probably make it a local webpage or something.

Re: Treasure Generator
Hi, I wrote up a utility program in Python, and its more or less complete (a few minor items/details).
The code is open source and freely available on GitHub: https://github.com/brian-thomas/df-treasure-generator Furthermore, there is an example servive on Heroku which can be used to check it out (a few fewer options than the code): http://df-treasure-generator.herokuapp.com/ |

Item: Meteoric Spear. Origin: Magical. Shouldn't this be impossible?
