Default Cleric/Hoard loophole.

So the Cleric card says:

"Resurrection: When it is time for you to draw cards face-up, you may instead take some or all from the top of the appropriate discard pile.

You must then discard one card from your hand for each card so drawn."

Meanwhile the Hoard card says:

"Draw 3 more Treasure cards immediately. They are face-down if you drew this card face-down; otherwise, they are face-up.

So follow my scenario here.

Cleric kicks open the door, he finds a monster he cannot beat. He asks for help, and beats it.

2 treasures are drawn. Face up. (Because he had help he has to draw them face up).

They Cleric gets the Hoard! card.

The Cleric plays the Hoard! card.

Then the Cleric uses the Resurrection Class ability. He instead of drawing 3 face-up treasures from the deck, he draws 2 from the deck face up, AND the Hoard card.

He discards a card (to appease Resurrection). He then plays Hoard!

Rinse... and Repeat... right?

No. Hoard is not discarded until the three cards are drawn.

What if you threw Wand of Dowsing in the mix? You'd be discarding a card to draw three, two of which are treasures, the other is the Wand.

Wand of Dowsing explicitly says that the card you retrieve must be placed in your hand. If Hoard appears in your hand, it is considered to be drawn face-down, and therefore a Cleric cannot use Resurrection.

Ah brilliant! Thanks for pointing out the obvious flaw that I completely overlooked!

Um, when you play "Hoard!" it goes in the discard pile. Why would you draw the cards first before it's discarded?

Because the card is still in play until its effect is resolved.

So do this instead:

Wand of dousing to grab hoard

Hoard for 3, use one face up to grab wand of dousing

Wand of dousing to grab hoard etc.

This just happened in my game so I'm wondering if it's legal.

As mentioned above, Wand of Dowsing puts the resolved cans into your hand, not into play. When Hoard! is played from your hand, the cards you draw are face down, so you can't take face up cards (like the just-discarded Wand of Dowsing).

Trust me, we thought this through VERY carefully.
