look online for prices, look online for what the architect charges.

might take a bit of research but for process on anything just browse the net and look at catalogs/brochures. You well find what ya looking for might have to spend a half hour to and hour doing so.

I find this awesome about GURPS, people start asking questions and learning about the world and how it works. It would be nice if there was a gamer's explanation of mortgages and accounting.

Think about it, this topic is important for daily life, but it takes GURPS for a person to want to know it... not getting over one's head in debt :).

The magic of Future Payment. a house may be worth 200,000USD but a player may have about 8,000USD in assets. The thing is that in modern times you have an ongoing payment. You live in that house, and you will continue to pay for that house for maybe up to 10-20 years, until your equity/ownership is greater than the banks. This applies to the car and the personal biz of the character.

A character may have, up to 20-30x resources at their disposal because a bank has confidence he is an "ongoing concern" /that he will continue to pay for the stuff he has now. And why not? These things may improve the characters productivity in society- a car to drive to work, a house to shelter, and assets and equipment that make him better or as good as the market expects of him at his profession.

unfortunately there is this really all Debt, and depending on what kind of character or person the character/person is, this debt might be paid... or he/she will die adventuring which is bad for the bank C'est la vie. For all we know, that failed payment/bad loan is the straw that breaks that bank's back.
