Default Tent - poles included or not?

Each tent has "requires X poles". Are these poles included in price and weight, or should be bought independendly?

They are separate, the idea being one trims a pair of tree limbs in the wild (or ties off to trees with some rope/twine).

Of course a pair of Wizards (or Clerics with staves) can use their Wizarding Staff...

Plus, every adventurer should have everything they need for fighting

...and a 10-foot pole.

In general, I would assume they would not note a requirement if it came with the item, though they might say "includes X poles".

Lacking staffs or trees or spears or elves who sleep standing up, there are so many other possibilities available to your typical delver. The scout or barbarian could hunt up a dinosaur (the 8-foot femur of Patagotitan mayorum would do nicely) or a gargantuan porcupine. The proboscis on a giant stirge will hold up for a night, easily. Or you could fall back on the standard method: hire a Demon from Between the Stars to do pole duty for a night (they're better than fire elementals because the tent doesn't have to be fireproof, and the swashbuckler can sleep without his eye mask).

A tent in Basic Set and DF is just a tarp. Tents in Low-Tech p. 32 include all the components.
