Re: The Unoffial 2056 Vehicle Guide
For that, I use the "OR Suspension On Acft." option -- the OR susp. absorbs some of the impact (I'd have to look up how much).

OR Landing gear might make landing on uneven ground easier (its function on the wasp I assume, since it designed to land and be manoeuvred on a frigates small pitching deck). If you want heavy landing protection surely you need just need to beef up the under body armour (since that is how CW handles collisions). This has the added benefit of being... well... under body armour. (IIRC elsewhere in Aeroduel it states that undercarriage collapse damages under body armour). I would be more inclined to use the roll cage stats to indicate structural improvements to protect in the event of "hard" landing (since that is designed for collision protection). Adapt the variance between fixed vs. retractable wheel guards as the basis for any variance between fixed and retractable undercarriage. Or you could just make the assumption that in CW world no-one ever fits non-retractable undercarriage as it is too vulnerable to ground fire, foreign object damage, FCE's, squirrels etc. Last edited by swordtart; 04-29-2019 at 05:28 AM. |

Re: The Unoffial 2056 Vehicle Guide
Used this in a quick Div 20 Game earlier . This was optimized for the particular custom Arena we played on - swapping Armour & Weapons around could turn it into a nasty side shooter :
Nightrunner - Pickup , X-Hvy Chassis , Hvy Suspension , Super Power Plant , Fire Extinguisher , 6 SB PR Tires , Driver w/SWC , 2 Linked VMGs Front w/15 Loads of HD Ammo Each , Composite Metal/Plastic Armour : F 8/40 , L 0/40 , R 0/40 , B 6/37 , T 0/10 , U 0/10 , 2 Fake WGs Front , 2-10pt Hubs Front , 2-6pt WGs Back , 2 Fake Hubs Back , Acceleration 5mph , Top Speed 90mph , HC 2 , 7,799lbs , $19,992 . ( May be handicapped in a wide open Arena - particularly versus heavy Drop Weapon opponents . In a tight Arena - like the Blast Furnace or Arches Autoduel Park - where others normally get to shoot at your Front or Back , this can rule ! Lightbulb's Guass Gun armed Compact hit my front multiple times , only for most of damage to bounce off ! We normally don't see too much Metal Armour in our games over Div 15 & the surprise factor was a big help . IF I use a similar design again soon , will most likely face opponents with many RRs with HESH Ammo ... )

Re: The Unoffial 2056 Vehicle Guide
Hunter by Swordtart:
Sedan; Extra Heavy chassis; Heavy suspension; Sport PP w/PCs, HDHTMs, Overdrive; 4 PR Radial tires, 2x10 pt. Plastic Hubs F; 2x10 pt. Plastic Guards B. Driver, Gunner; Vulcan MG w/20xHD, Paint Spray w/25xPaint; Hi-Res Single Weapon Computer, HD Shocks, HD Brakes, ABS; Sloped Armour: 6 pts. Metal and 195 pts. Plastic (F: 6/45 R: 0/40 L: 0/40 B: 0/35 T: 0/20 U: 0/15); Cargo: 50lb, 1 Spc; HC: 4, Top Speed: 120 (80, 140), Accel: 10 (20, 5). Cost: $26,958, Wgt: 6,120. The Hunter is configured in standard pursuit configuration with the popular Vulcan MG and majority of the armour to the front plus the efficient and flexible paint sprayer to the rear. Maximised for performance it has an impressive turn of speed and excellent handling allowing safe high speed pursuits. It has credible armour and a sloped profile for enhanced survivability. The provision of a dedicated gunner station allows you to concentrate on driving while your best girl (or buddy) dishes it out. The standard model (and the majority of options) provide a generous provision for cargo or after-market upgrades. Committed to customer service. We build a standard chassis to avoid having to pass the design costs on to the customer. In order to simplify customisation we offer reconfiguration of the main weapon as a factory option. Our "Off the Lot" promise means that our authorised dealership centres will provide any factory option within 1 hour of completing your order or we will provide vouchers for 10,000 miles of recharges as compensation! See our T&C's for full details and qualifying criteria. We offer a number of alternate primary weapon options. If you prefer, we will also fit the weapon to a side or rear arc instead at no additional cost! Gunfighter Option: Replace VMG with 2 linked Machine Gun each with 20 rounds HD ammo. Cargo: 100lb, 1 spc. Cost: $27,608. If you like to spread your bets or just like the style of a twin gun fighter or need a little extra cargo capacity. Many of our customers load one gun with tracer ammunition instead of HD. This has the benefit of reducing cost, enhancing accuracy and allowing carriage of a passenger. Firecracker Option: Replace VMG with 2 linked Micromissile Launchers each with 10 std missiles. Cargo: 350lb, 1 Spc. Cost: $25,508. Our cheapest option it also offers the highest payload. Ideally suited to anti-cycle operations, it is a non-optimal choice for sustained offensive operations vs vehicles with heavy armour. Rifleman Option: Replace VMG with Recoilless Rifle with extra magazine with 20 x HEAT rounds. Cargo: 185lb, 0 Spc. Cost: $26,158 Rocketeer Option: Replace VMG with Rocket Launcher with extra magazine with 20 AP rockets. Cargo: 285lb, 0 Spc. Cost: $25,658. The Rifleman and Rocketeer both sacrifice cargo capacity for a more realistic ammunition budget. Both have higher payload weight budget than other models but no space to carry it. Many of our customers use this extra weight budget for additional after market armour panels, but other options such as dischargers or external components are of course available from your local Autoduel parts specialist. Photon Option. Replace VMG with Laser. Cargo: 100lb, 1 Spc. Cost: $31,558. The most expensive option for those who want the pinpoint accuracy and impact of a LASER weapon. We subcontract LASER installation out to Resnick, so talk to our sales representative if you require IR or Pulsed as a factory option. I wanted a vehicle with lots of factory options to simplify the design choices. In an RP campaign game there may well be additional costs or in game time delays in generating a custom vehicle from scratch (not to mention the diversion in real-time) and it would be nice to have something credible with a degree of flexibility "off the lot". Re: The Unoffial 2056 Vehicle Guide
Yes that was the plan . This Pickup design can carry equivalent of 247pts of Armour - where as a similar layout on a Midsize would only carry 186pts plus Driver Component Armour .
Caught the other four players on the hop : Side mounted GG Armed Compact , 3× RL Lux , Twin RR Sedan & Low_Deckers bizarre X-Hvy Trike , which crashed before he fired a shot ... I don't think I've used a Pickup in Div 20 since before the Ramplate Rules changed ? Could be wrong , but it must be well over 20 years ?

Re: The Unoffial 2056 Vehicle Guide
Following on from another thread...
Ambulance Pick-Up by Swordtart: Pickup; Extra Heavy chassis w/6 Tires (Dualies); Heavy Active suspension; 150 cid Engine w/Tubes, BP, VP Turbo; 5 gal. Duelling tank; 10pts CA; 6 PR tires; HD Shocks, HD Brakes, ABS; 2x10 pt. Plastic Hubs F; 2x10 pt. Plastic Guards B; Driver; Gunner. 2s Turret with Recoilless Rifle, extra mag w/20xHEAT; Paint Spray w/25xPaint (R). Hi-Res Single Weapon Computer; Long-Distance Radio; Mini-Safe - Small (for drugs); Armour 250 pts. Plastic (F: 50 R: 50 L: 50 B: 50 T: 30 U: 20); Cost: $36,100, Wgt: 7,715 HC: 3, Top Speed: 60, Accel: 10. In the back of beyond a fully equipped ambulance is a luxury that few can afford. Often the best available is a converted cargo vehicle. This gas powered pickup is possibly one of the better candidates with 750lb of cargo capacity (without impacting the quoted performance) and plenty of space to lay several stretchers in the back. A turreted weapon and dedicated gunner with decent electronics will dissuade casual interference. Heavy armour and good handling means it can also withstand a few hits while en-route (though armed escorts would be a sensible adjunct). Active suspension somewhat softens the ride for the casualty and bed-riders. As the casualty is generally lying down even the exposed bed will not present a significant issue. Given the choice is to stay put and bleed out, it is not the worst option. A common configuration allows for 2 x Casualty (3 Spc, 200lb each) as well as 2 well armed and armoured guards for security (1 Spc, 175lb each); Other configurations are of course possible, such as a dedicated paramedic replacing one of the guards rather than being a second duty of the driver or gunner. Often Biker gangs will have a pickup in reserve for post engagement casualty evacuation. In this case the turret weapon will probably not be present and additional gang members or spare parts for repairs will be carried instead. These may also have HD transmissions and tow a trailer. Re: The Unoffial 2056 Vehicle Guide
I *don't* think that's how it works.... :)
The "first-generation" Wagon-based Ambunaught I came up with: Wagon; Std. ch.; Hv. susp.; Su. PP [2,600 PF]; 4x PR tire; Dr., Gn. 2-sp. Tu.; 2x MG (L) [Tu.]; RR [F]; 2x Stretcher[*]; Med. Eq.[*]; Cargo: 450 lbs.[**] Armor: F, B, T: 25; L, R: 20; U: 14; 4x 10-pt. WG. $17,680; 5,500 lbs. (loaded). Acc., TS (l.|u.): 5, 100|10, 125; HC: 2. [*: as per _Sunday Drivers_] [**: usu. 2 on Stretchers, 1 seated] A later model adds XH chassis, and 110 pts. armor.
