Suggested additional text:

Due to their years of study away from mundane affairs, add one die for the difficulty for any wizard attempting any task that they lack a talent for. (Weapons, detection or removal of traps, Woodsman survival, etc.) If the wizard has learned a talent there is no additional penalty for using the talent.

I take a different stance. I won't allow certain skill checks at all if the character doesn't have the appropriate talents.. it doesn't matter how high your IQ is.

For example, ONLY characters with DETECT TRAPS or REMOVE TRAPS can attempt to perform those actions. Untalented characters do not know what to look for.
