Default New perks thread

The old perk thread is beyond my searching skills to find, so here's a new one:

Babel-speech: You can translate and back-translate between just about any two languages. The problem is that your translation is about as good as Babelfish (or other automated translators.) Anyone you try this on will have to roll against IQ. On a critical success, they get exactly what you are saying. On a normal success, they understand the general outline, but nothing more. On a normal failure, they don't understand anything. And on a critical failure you have either conveyed the exact opposite of what you wished for, gravely insulted them, or both.

Resistant to Bleeding: You get a +8 bonus to bleeding rolls, [1].

Injury Tolerance: No Blood costs 5 points, it’s’ basically Immunity: Rare.
Resistance: Rare +8 costs 2 points.
The limitation "(Blood clots almost immediately: vulnerable to poisons but not bleeding rolls)" is worth -50% (TS: DB p.114).
50% of 2 points is 1 point.

My favorite character (whose Quirks I just posted in a different thread) always has this Perk:

[1] If it's available and he wants one, it's available in purple.

I've been told such a Perk is a monumental waste of a point, but it's that important to me. :)

So... purple silver armrings? Purple swords? A purple horse.

I'd never thought of it in terms of purple horses, but that's because I'd never imagined the character wanting a horse (he'd rather walk). Having thought of it in those terms now, I grant that it could have an effect beyond the limit of some people's tolerance for the bizarre (or, dare I say it, the silly), but what the heck? If the GM doesn't mind a purple horse, sure. A purple horse!

This Perk has a RL origin. I've often been able to find purple versions of several items one would not expect to find in purple. I once lamented that Maglite flashlights didn't but should come in purple. A friend scoffed and said something to the effect of "Yeah, like that will ever happen." The next month, Maglite starting making purple flashlights. I now have five purple Maglite flashlights (four different sizes) and gave one to a dear friend as a gift.

If RL can give me this store, GURPS can give my favorite character this Perk even if that means purple horses. :)

I never saw a purple Horse
And never hope to see one.
But psi or supe or any source
I'd rather see than be one.

Fortunately, the GM can always rule that, while there is a purple horse, you can't afford it. It's available, but it costs a gazillion GURP$.

No, no... he can afford it, but to maintain its purple colouring it needs to eat special shellfish (Ask a Flamingo). And since it does not like to eat them you have to force feed it with them... 8h a day...

As for the coin-flipping... its only problematic, if the player abuses it, else it fun...

Wouldn't this technically give you all languages at a broken level.

That really dosn't seem to be balanced as a perk for me.
