Car Wars 2.5 Tounament at DragonFlight

Hello everyone.
just wanted you all to know that I will be running a Three day tournament at at the DragonFlight gaming convention this year. Dragonflight is in Bellevue Washington Aug 13 - 15, 2010

My car Wars set up is 3X using the Jada Battle Machines as the car counters. I will be running 4 prelim rounds with the top 3 players of each battle advancing to the semi finals.
Two semi final rounds with the top three advancing to the finals.
Finally on sunday the Championships with the top 3 earning SJ Swag*!
*Prizes to be determined

All equipment, cars, and playing aids will be provided at the convention.

What do you need?

You need to bring a desire to blow up your opponents in the arena. I will supply all the rest. May I suggest getting a copy of the Car Wars 2.5 rules and becoming at least familiar with movement and combat. The PDF is located on the E23 websight for purchase and download here.

Prelim rounds will be division 5
Semi finals will be Division 10 and
finals will be division 20

Great news - the Makers of Darkwind has heard of this tournament and contacted me asking if they could give prizes to the winners of this event. Hmmm ... let me Think.... YES!
actually I did run it by the Steve Jackson guys before saying Yes...

so Prize support will include but not limited to...
1st place, a 6 month subscription to the Darkwind game
2nd place a 4 month subscription to the Darkwind game
3rd place a 2 month subscription to the Darkwind game.

I would be delighted to be a part of your Car Wars tournament. I just wanted to know some particulars:
Will there be open gaming opportunities between the hours of the tournament (remember all those free gaming tables that were available)?

That assumes that enough people come to make custom cars an option that is sensible. I signed up for the convention just today, so I should be lurking around there somewhere. Thank you for making this a possibility.

Of the 7 rounds I will be running the winners will only partake in 3. So I assume there will be plenty of time for open gaming. I am unable to find out how many people have signed up at this time. My goal is to have enveryone meet up on Friday, where I will assign rounds and give everyone a schedule.
That way everyone will know what and when to expect to play.

Update POST Con!

well that was a big success. I had 19 of 24 spots full. Most players had not played in many years and the rest had not played ever before.

In fact our Winner was a Mom that had wondered over to see what I was setting up. I told her a bit about the game. She signed up right then and there.
She turned out to be a natural, and after a few rounds, had the proceedures down pat. I still did all the to hit calculations, but then again I did that for even the vetran players. The games all ran Quick and smooth with little to no down time.
By the end of the Convention I had offers to run Car Wars at three other Conventions, one major game group and a local Store.
Dragon Flight was very pleased with our results, and also asked me to come back next year.

Of course 7 games in three days at 2.5 to 3 hrs per game did mush my brain more than a bit. I'll have to work on my stamina a bit for the next one!
