Classes
I know GURPS is all for being skill based and making whatever you want. But here's my question. Has anyone done a class based system with gurps. If so how did you handle it?
I'm working on my own world and it has very distinct classes associated with it. I'm still trying to choose a system that can support my vision before I just give up and create my own. I was thinking something like create the class as a template, along with the races. Have them pick a class and race and then acquire the template. Then I would have all the abilities built out and the class can simply buy those abilities when they have enough XP, similar to leveling up in D&D and picking feats or something like that. |

Re: Classes
The DF line is essentially class based. It has templates like Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Druid... and rules for class-specific power ups.

Re: Classes
Dimgeom Fantasy, Sction and Monster Hunter all template based.
Also there is a supplement for creating templates you may find usefl. |

Re: Classes
GURPS call classes by the name of templates.

Re: Classes
Clarification - all classes are handled as templates, but not all templates are classes.

Re: Classes
If you let us know what the "classes" on your world are, there's a good chance that some of us can help you make templates, or can suggest existing templates that are a good start.

Re: Classes
Yeah, you shouldn't reinvent the wheel if you don't have to. There might be existing templates that are almost what you want, with just a couple of tweaks, and some of us enjoy making this kind of stuff.

Re: Classes
Thanks for the suggestions. Here is a link to my creation. I originally started it in the 13th age engine but I'm not completely sure if that's the way I want to handle it. So for now I've been strictly building the universe and staying out of the crunch. I figure I can write down the races and classes and abilities and then see how I can incorporate them.
