[DF] Talent For Thieves
One thing that I've noticed in DF is that just about every class has some sort of Unusual Background or Talent on their must buy listings, the fact that a few don't and that I won't to use these to control access to classes via special, hard to acquire, CP this is a bit of a problem.
So two classes lack one of these entirely, the Swashbuckler and the Thief; the Scout re-uses Outdoorsman from the Barbarian; and the Knight's Born War Leader doesn't quite fit what I want to do. The thing I'm really interested in is finding or inventing a Talent for Thieves, especially as they're one of the core dungeon crawl classes. The Swashbucklers lack of a Talent isn't a problem for me, as it occupies so much of the same space as the Knight, especially as the Swashbuckler suffers from a crippling flaw in that it's both a single weapon specialist yet at the same time it's the one you'd most expect to be able to use weird and unusual weapons. Scout has Outdoorsman, suggesting merging that class with Barbarian, or switching Barbarian over to using Mr. Smash. Finally the Knight's Born War Leader doesn't seem quite as central to it's weapon master roll. |

Re: [DF] Talent For Thieves
Thieves already have a talent-like advantage, with High Manual Dexterity, which already adds to many of the Thief skills. That makes it a good starting point for a Talent, although my preference is to give Thieves a choice of a few Talents representing a few different archetypes. That would be combined with allowing them more choice in where they put their skills so they don't have to spread out skill points quite so much.

Re: [DF] Talent For Thieves
GURPS Monster Hunters 1 and GURPS Power-Ups 3 have a talent called Craftiness that might suit your needs.
You can also roll your own, like: Sneaky [10/level]: Acting, Camouflage, Disguise, Filch, Holdout, Pickpocket, Shadowing, Sleight of Hand, Smuggling, and Stealth.
