Re: Flat Black
I wonder how much it would cost to make up a run of medallions for people who have played in my FLAT BLACK campaigns.

Re: Flat Black
It looks as though $700 would set me up with all the die-cast zinc-alloy medallions I could ever use. Getting the Royal Australian Mint to strike medallions the quality of coins would be more expensive, perhaps enough so that the price of real bronze or even sterling silver would make only a small difference.

Latin mottos
Re: Imperial mottos.
I have been trying to get Google Translate to turn "we guard everyone always against massacre" into Latin, but I think it's giving me the wrong noun for "massacre". I think it ought to be strages, trucidatio, occisio, obcisio, occidio, obcidio, internecio, or internicio; Google Translate is giving me: Omnes semper custodiat nos caedewhich seems like nonsense. Um. Custodimus semper omnes contra internecioni?

Re: Flat Black
Alas, I can't help you with Latin grammar, never having learned Latin. However, I can throw unfiltered thoughts at you.
A possible workaround comes to mind: you could settle for a grammatically less complex, more poetic motto, which still catches the same meaning :) Something like "From Death we guard", or "Always we serve", or "In our hands" (...the fate of humanity rests), or "Duty from Conscience". Something like that. I think if a basically ideologically motivated group were to pick a motto, they'd go for something catchy, impressive-sounding; rather than a precise description of what they want or do. Fluctuat nec mergitur sounds better than Even though things might be difficult at times, we're still determined to carry on.

Re: Flat Black
Custodimus semper omnes contra internecioni is a bit of a mission statement, of which the worst part is "internecioni". I hope the correct grammar and semantics provide a more elegant word, such as stragi. But anyway, the advantage of first setting out precisely what you want to say is that you can then suggest the whole with selected parts while playing tricks with emphasis.
• Semper custodimus "We always guard"

Re: Flat Black
As a rule for mottoes, the shorter and pithier the better. I'd say any of the two-word ones feels best.
Then again, once of these days I will use nonne numquam hic eramus ("We were never here, all right?").
