The shield breaking while on your arm...
Ok, I had a thought while playing watching my brother play a game. What happens if you block a swing attack with a shield that is strong enough to one shot said shield and still have a lot of damage left over. Example: Something like an ogre or very large troll deciding to beat on you with a club. After the shield break, could the remaining damage resonably break your arm? And if the shield is made of metal and doesn't break, could the sheer impact of something like that just break your arm? I am just curious on everybody's thoughts for this.

This should definitely be possible - RuneQuest had a nice system to cover this as well as weapons breaking on a parry. I have no idea how the current version of Gurps handles this case, if at all.

Overpenetration rules. A wooden shield has DR 7, HP 40. Any hit doing more than 24 damage will penetrate the shield, and damage it's weilder, no matter whether it is blocked or not.
