Default Various Magic Questions

1) Does an enchantment (like Puissance) on a weapon that is made of two parts, like a kusarigama, does the enchantment apply to the whole weapon or part of it?

2)
Okay, so if Q&D enchanting takes one hour for every 100 energy, and all energy is spent at the end of the time, and I only have 15 FP available...and I have to pay all the energy into the item, then how long does an enchanting take? Is 1 hour/100 energy required a minimum?

If the entire weapon is available and assembled at the time of casting, the whole thing is enchanted and gets the benefit. However, this also means that if the chain breaks, the enchantment is lost.

"It takes one hour per 100 points of energy required (round up)." That means 1 hour for 1-100, two hours for 101-200, three hours for 201-300, and so forth.

Time required to enchant Q%D style is required energy/100 and round up. No Q&D ritual can take less than an hour.

The real question is where is the 15 FP coming into this?

If all you have avaialble from _all_ sources is 15 FP you are not going to be able to successfully Enchant anything more than a 15 pt item Q&D style. The total amount of required energy must be available in the last second/Turn of the Q&D ritual.

If you can't scare up the total required energy by _some_ method (and there are many tricks to doing this if you include all optional amterial) then you can't do Q&D. Slow and Sure will be your only option.

Ah, I'll mention that to my player.

Uh-huh. Well, dang. Apparently powerstones or apprentices are pretty necessary.

Fellow mages who know Enchant and the other spell in use at 15 or better plus powerstones, paut, raw magic, familiars, megawatt power sources (preferably running on necronium), cones of power, ley lines and probably a few other things I haven't remembered off the top of my head, frequently in combination.

A magical power plant from GURPS Spaceships is nice, too. *grins*

Two mages who know cone of power, and a 100 peasants should be enough to manage most any enchantment spell. Spend a few days bribing the peasants with ceremonial magic of some flavor, (bless plants, creating food, casting a youth spell on everyone, you have 100 energy per spell figure it out.) Then you gather all the peasants together for 10 hours to raise the cone of power. At the end you have 2000 energy sitting in their to draw from; enough to manage greater wish in fact.
Good uses of your wish include, making elf peasant allies (great for ceremonial magic), magery, allies, modular abilities: cosmic , unaging, allies, and power investiture.

Don't you still need energy for S&S?
