Good luck with that. AFAICT none of Steve Jackson, S. John Ross, or Daniel U. Thibault are actively involved with GURPS anymore (beyond owning it in Jackson's case), and only Jackson appears to post on the forum (and never about GURPS).

You could always try PMing Kromm or RPK and see if they would clarify for you, Kromm in particular was line editor then so definitely counts as 'affiliated with the book'

No, actually, he wasn't affiliated with GURPS Magic at all. He was busy working on the Basic Set and Powers. Someone else edited it.

Like malloyd says. For instance, a mage with some cheap powerstones could stand on the castle wall and drop several 1200lb beasts on the sappers below. His unskilled apprentice can then do the same. They can do more if the Power enchantment is involved. A single, permanent dwarf elephant is too valuable to use up that way.

The pricing seems to have been deliberately modeled on Summonable (the Allies modifier) for this reason.

The Create Mount costs are brought over from pre-Summonable 3rd ed GRIMOIRE, so any connection would go the other way.

Heh... thanks *g* BTTOP, I don't view the pricing scheme as much of a problem because of that similarity, whichever way the connection arrow is pointing.
