Large Angry Chicken
If I am fighting the Large Angry Chicken and I can beat it with my level (since it's only a 2 level monster) but I have in play a weapon of fire, does this give me the extra level or should I have used the weapon to kill the monster to get the level?

Re: Large Angry Chicken
Your combat strength is your combat strength. You don't first fight Monsters with your Level, then if that's not enough, pick which weapons that you're already using to provide a bonus. If you're actually using an Item that counts as a fire or flame attack, you get the extra level. You can also use a one-shot Item that counts as a fire/flame attack, even if you were winning, to get that extra level. If you happen to have a fire/flame Item in play that you're not using, then no extra level.
There are exceptions, of course, where the wording of a specific card would imply that you can choose to fight only with your Level. However, that should be treated as meaning that if your Level is enough to defeat the Monster, you get extra rewards, not that that you must actually choose to fight only with your Level, or that you're stuck that way once you do.
