[RPM] Different Setting and Different Paths
I have a Gurps campaign in Forgotten Realms and I have some questions about Ritual Path Magic:
1 - Has anyone used RPM with different paths? I plan on using in Forgotten Realms with the eight schools of magic (abjuration, divination, enchantment, illusion, enchantment, necromancy, and transmutation Evocation). 2 - There are two rolls, one of Gathering Ambient Energy and another to Cast the Spell. Then to cast all magic I need a minimum possible time of 2 turns? Or is possible to make the two rolls on the same turn? 3- If the Adept collects Ambient Energy what prevents him to cast hundreds of effects on him and his party with duration of one day? Nothing prevents a mage from casting multiple different effects, within these limits:
1) spell effect types don't stack, so you're limited to 112 different spells at a time (in theory). In practice, it'd be hard to get that many different spell effects on a same time just to the targeting requirements. 2) Even ritual adepts have a hard time casting spells at rates much faster than 1 energy point/second. 3) Even with Luck, casting hundreds of spells of any significant size per day is very, very dangerous. But if your ritual adept wants to risk casting several hundred spells in a day, there's nothing stopping him. |

oh, I read now on page 36 "There is no time requirement other than that to gather
the energy". This mean the cast roll is a free action part to finish the ritual? |

So what happens first is you bump up against useful buffs you can cast after so many. Especially limited to lesser effects. Also I recommend a time of way more than a day, especially for big spells involving draining parties members, being on consecrated ground, and the like. A week is better, but you probably still want more. |

But a Adept can, for example, use different effects on him and his party with a day duration at no cost.
Example: The adept and all members of the party with DR +2 all day at no cost |

I don't know where you're getting "no cost" from. There are no free magic spells in RPM; the adept has to gather or otherwise obtain the energy for each spell.

Ok I think it will be nice to use RPM in my FR Campaign. I was just wanting to understand better because never used before a flexible magic system.
