Are astronium and petrinium what we call uranium and plutonium in OTL/Homeline's world line?

Fiendish! Full marks! Chaplin always said he wore the look first.

By the by, the Pyramid article on the Dungeons of Mars would be useful. After all, stealing ancient secrets from lost tombs is the kind of pulp adventure you'd want on Lucifer-5.

Absolutely not. They are elements unknown to our periodic table with superscience properties found in meteor craters.

Uranium was known to mundane science well before 1908. Even its' radioactive properties were known by 1895 or so.

Sorry to be so late getting back to this but life happens.

This is my first attempt at a basic transport rocketship for Lucifer-5. It's SM-8 and that's mostly because of trying to account for armor and crew cabins.

It's made out of steel, steel and more steel and is dDR9. That's enough to stop the effects of colliding with a grain of dust (with "grain" meaning 1/7000th of a lb) at an average turnover velocity on the Mars run. The ship also probably tries to avoid most dust by flying above or below the plane of the
Ecliptic.

Because there is almost no automation possible at this TL I'm setting minimum normal crew at 6. That's one watchstander for the bridge and the engine room with 3 shifts.

4 cabins are allotted for the crew at double occupancy with 1 fir a single bed Infirrnary and another for a small Astronomy lab that will be largely concerned with the difficult subject of navigation at this TL.

The extra beds can go for a medic and a cargo master or purser or steward or some such person.

There are 6 cabins allotted for passengers. Most trips will be under a week with 2 days or less being common.

The drive is Hot Reactionless because the IW book describes there things as "torch ships" which means to me both "accelerates at a constant 1G or higher" and "fire comes out the back end". If somebody really doesn't like reactionless drives the only option would be Total Conversion. Constant 1G takes more than 500 miles per second of Delta-V per day.
