Instant Armor -- but not the PDF
I know people have played with the idea of hammerspace as the location where Highlander-style immortals keep their katanas, etc. Using Cosmic Payload, such a PC can apparently draw a weapon from nowhere.
How would one construct an analogous advantage for armor? In other words, the PC can change outfits on a whim, exchanging formal wear for full plate, or whatever, among stored options. Obviously, this would have to be for a semi-silly campaign, and it's also a powerful advantage. An important difference seems to be that weapons are merely Readied, but armor usually has to be actually put on. Can you just slap another layer of Cosmic on the Payload to accomplish insta-donning? Or is there a better, more fair way to handle the power? |

Re: Instant Armor -- but not the PDF
Buy No Signature and Switchable on the maximum DR worth of armor you expect to wear? Might also make a decent Defensive Imbuement. Call it an Imbue 1 requirement.
So, if you can swap out a suit of heavy plate, (DR 7), thats +25% and +10%, for 35% the cost of DR 7, or 12.25 points to be able to turn off and render undetectable a suit of DR 7 armor (or any lesser protection). Subtle Defense, Lighten Armor, and Expand Armor are all Imbue 1, so Id be fine with an Imbue to instantly wear, and remove, armor as an Imbue 1 skill as well. The advantage there is the cost is fixed, regardless of the DR of your armor. The disadvantage is it will probably cost more, given the need for Imbue, skill, and FP, than the above version. Unless you already HAVE Imbue.

They still have to buy the armor with G$. Its' gear, obviously. But there is no reason -- in my opinion -- to charge them more points because they stash armor in their hammerspace in addition to or instead of weapons and other bits. It goes in "ready", it comes out "ready"; whatever "ready" means for that object. |
