I think it works having it here. It an something that happens without the others so they wouldn't know what happened. Besides, this way we won't have to shuffle events around.

The Muse is wholly uncooperative tonight, so I'm just going to jot down a few facts.

Mitch will get out the door without incident. I have to look at the big picture to see whether an encounter on the way back to wherever-he's-going would be productive.

Glen will break the wards without incident. Demon wakes up and begins scheming his escape, but that's predictable enough and easily thwarted, for now, with the hound. Shuck is still lying there like an unusually stinky St. Bernard. It would be comedy for him to have chewed something up, but there's no significance to it.

Ryuki has gone to get the passports and will have no problems there. Having him offscreen lets me put something useful on him as long as I think of it before you re-encounter him.

Cameron will get rescued unless her player has other plans. Corat and Kane will be looking at the fight of their lives unless they focus exclusively on getting her out and not on fighting the demons there. It might be useful for all concerned if they're already gone, but Tishbite would make a lovely, lovely hostage so I'm deciding about that.

That's all I can think of for now.

At this time, I don't have plans for Cameron. I am always down to being tossed under the plot bus for the sake of the story. :D

You gave me an idea--a wicked, wicked idea. Now the trick is whether it's even possible without retconning anything or making your character unplayable.

PM'd chumley--I figure Tish will be gone but will have taken something of value. He's an infernal computer expert who doesn't play video games, and he's on his own and on the run in L.A. Chumley will likely know the kind of thing he could take, but I'm putting this here in case someone else has ideas.

And BTW I'm as annoyed about the Korean casino ads as you are. OTOH I can read enough Korean to know that's what they are.

Sometimes I put an element in the story and forget why I put it there. Maybe I wrote it down in a notebook I've lost track of, maybe not. But on the walk home it up and slapped me in the face--well, that's why there's a Tsayadim there.

Meanwhile writing dialogue in Celestial is a pain in the tuchus. Should take me about another half hour.

Apparently the entire thing is too long for one post. This is Part 1

When Sunae sees her Grandfather, he mentions the drowned girl hanging around the family home. Sunae is surprised but she says, "Oh? Is it handled or is she an entertainment to them?"

Grandfather: "An entertainment and a lesson for the young. Just because fish can breathe underwater does not mean you play with them there."

Sunae smiles

"Our children do not frighten easily" she says with pride.

Grandpa is amused. "Not at all."

Sunae: "So how came she be there?"

Grandfather: "I am not sure. She has no reason to be at our farm--we've had no untoward deaths there"

Sunae: "Was she summoned?"

Grandfather: "We did not summon her. And we've had no guests who would summon her. I haven't spoken to her yet, though perhaps she would tell me "

Sunae: "You think she was sent? Why"

He shrugs. It doesn't seem all that important.

Sunae: "As if you'd give her a choice. If not you then perhaps Ayato?"

Grandfather: "True, I could demand answers. I could also send her away. Maybe she is the first of many, that I should concern myself with her origins."

Sunae thinks about it for a moment and looks concerned.

"Hm...I hadn't thought of that. If she was sent then someone knows where we are and could mean us harm"

Grandfather: "It is disturbing on that level. No one should know where we are, or that we are not just peculiar farmers and monks."

"Grandfather, has Ayato spoken to you yet?"

"Not yet, no."

Sunae sighs

"What is wrong?"

Sunae: "Ryuki asked to meet him. Then he asked to speak with him privately. I don't know what was said, but my brother was not happy. He bade me to return to the Mountain to center myself. But I still have my debt. He said he would speak to you about that"

Grandfather: "Curious. But the debt can wait, can it not? They cannot collect from the top of a mountain, can they? As for Ryuki--he vexes you. Little wonder he vexes Ayato. It's a great wonder he hasn't had his face rearranged by someone less patient than we."

Sunae: "He has many strengths, Grandfather. It would be wise to not under estimate him. And no, the debt cannot wait. The interest"

Grandfather is a little surprised at her defending Ryuki.

Sunae: "But that is a conversation for another day, Grandfather. I tried to submit my report to Our Blessed Lady, but She was unavailable. I would like to submit it to you. Perhaps you can relay the important pieces of information for me?"

A nod--of course he can

She tells him everything they learned, everything that was done, (including what the Swordies did), and her thoughts. After that report she adds, "Apparently some Angels, possibly joined by some Tsayadim, were going to attack one of the Enemy's holdings as well. It is good I told Hamael."

Grandfather: "It is good. One person--you--made a difference."

Sunae: "As much as I can appreciate the proactivity, I would be happier if it were someone other than of Faith"

Grandfather: "Someone of Fire, perhaps? At least She chooses her targets wisely."

Sunae: "I don't actually care who. I have not forgiven Khalid for what he allowed and I don't believe I ever will"

Grandfather: "He has apologized? Or merely explained himself?"

Sunae: "Neither."

Grandfather: "He is proud, dancing on the edge of a Fall proud. Expect little from him, except to sympathize with Gabriel from time to time. Forgive if it gives you peace. Not for his sake."

Sunae: "However, Hamael was gracious enough to explain Lawrence's actions. I can accept his explanations, and I told him that. But I also told him that Lawrence lost my respect and my loyalty. He can earn my respect back, but never my loyalty."

Grandfather: "You said this to a Wordbound Sword?"

Sunae: "I did."

Grandfather: "Dignity, no less. But he will not spurn us because of it, only be troubled a little. I looked into your group's somewhat leader, Corat. My isolation is not so total that I can't hear angelic stories from time to time.”

"It was not, as most believe, that he stood up for his own actions in the face of a Judge's Triad. It was that he verbally spat at them, called them out on their hypocrisy, and otherwise let his temper run rampant in their presence.”

This is Part 2

Sunae: "Humph. Seeing as how he quakes when mentioning that period, that surprises me. The humans in the group don't really accept Corat as the leader. They give Ryuki's opinions more weight, as though he has more experience"

Grandfather: "Humans, plural?"

Sunae nods, "Including a Fire Soldier"

The curiosity is on his face. "How odd. I wonder why?"

Sunae: "Why what?"

Grandfather: "Why they follow Ryuki and not an angel."

Sunae snorts, "Because the angel doesn't want to be leader and Ryuki is more worldly than they, but not experienced. They don't realize the latter. He is also charming and knows what to say"

Grandfather: "And this is why I must not underestimate him. He does not fight--he throws others at his opponents."

He scratches his chin. "Like water spirits, perhaps? Though how he'd know where to throw her is curious..."

Sunae looks at him shocked.

"Grandfather...do you really believe he would do such a thing? What would his reason be?"

Grandfather shrugs, "Some men send flowers...?"

Sunae scoffs, "No, that is certainly not it. He has made his feelings towards me very clear to my brother, and to me. There is no future for us."

Grandfather: "I should look into how, and who. The spirit is harmless but the message is received--someone knows where we are."

Sunae: "And what do we do when we find out who?"

Grandfather: "That's a good question. Determine if they are a threat, and neutralize that threat."

Sunae nods

Grandfather: "Let me deal with the water spirit, and worry not about it. You have stopped a group of angels from attacking, be glad of that. Your instincts are good and you are blessed with good timing.

Sunae: "Grandfather, how do we find the Huntsman? I was hoping to be able to use their magic mirror, but then this new threat was brought to our attention"

Grandfather: “Surely one of the people in your group has a way?”

Sunae rolls her eyes and says to him, "Glen, the other sorcerer, is trying to enslave a Habbalite. We were going to use him, but before we could, Ryuki and I were awakened"

Grandfather finds this unpleasant. "Swords will always help. If the mirror is still available, use it."

"There is another complication, Grandfather."

She tells him about Shuck

"The Huntsmen want Shuck back, but Glen is loathe to release him. I, myself, have grown quite fond of him too..."

Grandfather: "This is not a complication, this is a tool. He will find your Huntsman for you. The spirit calls to him--you need only follow."

Sunae: "The complication lies in Glens arrogance. He feels it is his right to keep and command Shuck"

"A sorcerer, arrogant?" Grandfather says with obvious sarcasm, "Let it be your right to command Glen."

Sunae sighs in frustration, "He makes things so difficult, it's almost not worth having his help. BUT, I cannot argue that he is a useful tool"

Grandfather: "Then use him. Just do not lose your heart."

Sunae: "I will lose my patience before I lose my heart. I almost did when he promised the demon that I wouldn't harm him if he obeyed Glen"

This amuses him. "Think like a Malakite. 'I can kill it now or I can kill it later."

Sunae: "I was fully intending on killing it later, AFTER it told us what we needed to know"

Grandfather: "My point is you're in no hurry. Glen will tire of its company and then you can relieve him of it."

Grandpa is getting an itchy finger. "So many questions, so many doubts"

Sunae: "This is a sensitive time, Grandfather. We can scarce afford another mistake. Allowing the Loa and the Norsemen to help us was the first mistake. Had I thought of it earlier, I would have seen it before we did it."

"Stupid girl," he pauses for her reaction, "and equally gullible companions. Working with those outside our Fire is a challenge. Are you still up to it?"

Sunae: "I am still angry at them for the cruelty they inflicted upon me. But luckily, I don't have to be their friend to work with them. As long as The Lady wishes me there, I will stay. And as long as you allow me to stay, I shall. But Ayato wanted to speak to you about that."

Grandfather: "If you are strong enough. If you can handle ambiguity, mixed loyalties, and confused and ignorant persons--then continue. I will see him as soon as he arrives"

Sunae nods, "Of course they are confused and ignorant. They don't have our strength or our training. Do you have any orders for me, Grandfather?"

Grandfather: "Stop Armageddon. If the time where nigh, we above all others would know it. It is not."

Sunae: "The demon said they are trying to force it"

Grandfather: "They will fail, but you may have to reassure the angels of that."

Sunae: "They will fail. There is no question. Mitch went to report to Marc. I wonder what he will counsel him to do?"

A big shrug--Marc is largely beyond his comprehension

Sunae: "Regardless, a non-combatant counseling on how to conduct this battle? It'll be interesting. I should go, we still have much to do and we have already wasted quite a bit of time."

Grandfather: "And that is why I sent you and not another member of the family. You can say that with a straight face. You should go."

Sunae: "Yes Grandfather. Thank you for speaking with me. I always look forward to your counsel. Oh wait, there is one minor thing that I cannot expel from my mind."

Her shoulder gets hot--just a reminder that it is there.

Grandfather: "Can you not?"

Sunae: "No, because it confuses me so."

He waits impatiently

Sunae: "A demon, a high ranking one I believe, thought I was a Malakite. How could anyone possibly think I was an Angel?"

Grandfather simply shrugs.

"Most demons are stupid. He must have failed to seduce you, and needed something to blame for his failure"

Sunae: "Yes, but I didn't think they were THAT stupid. Anyway, thank you again
Grandfather. I wish you safe travels."

And with that he leaves, heading towards Gabriel’s chambers

I hate kitchen cleaning--it takes up so much time.

Figure I'll move things forward a bit tomorrow night if you folks haven't done as much for me by then.

Not planning any encounters during blender shopping! I may get time to reread Ryuki/Ayako and use that and Sunae's location to bring the Lu family thread a little further. A day or two, the weekend at most, and then the PCs will be on a plane.

Unless you have other ideas.
