Default "Reasonable time" scenario

Tonight while playing Zombies I was at level 9 and another player facing combat was level 8.
He needed help winning combat and accepted my help at which point I played "tastier than brains" so that I could receive the level from combat to win the game.
There was a dungeon in play and other cards were played but the short of the story is there came a point when we were winning the combat and two of the three other players not in the combat declared they had no further cards to play. Combat totals had been recounted and it was known if no further cards were played the combat was won and I would win the game. The third non-combatant still at that moment didn't play any further cards. The main combatant in the fight then asked her why she wasn't playing cards and it was at that point she played a few cards that made us unable to win the fight.

If it takes a player prompting another player after combat totals have been counted and the statement was already made that it would be the win, does this still count as a "reasonable time" or would it have fallen to the player to make the decision to play cards before being promoted?

I see nothing wrong with the prompt in this case, especially if the third player didn't realize you were about to win the game.
