[RPM] Camping Ward
So, I have been studying RPM. And I am trying to make a camping spell list.
The first question is Repairing items. Control Matter, clearly. But is the repair permanent? Or Transform but the question is it a "Heal" item? The Second question if I just want to keep bugs out and water off, would Lesser Control Matter + Area + Duration + Weight 10lbs. Just enough to keep bugs and Rain to stay out. Snow would pile up and dump (LOL), Arrows would barely even notice it, walking through it would feel something but would not stop much. Would Control magic be needed to make it a "Ward"??? Code:
Camping Ward Spell Effects: Lesser Control Matter. Inherent Modifiers: Area Of Effect, 50Yards + Duration, 12 Hours + Subject Weight, < 10 lbs is stopped. Greater Effects: 0 (×1). For Bugs I would require Path of Body, not Matter.
For Repair I would rule that its permanent as long as its natural, in other words it wont require magic to hold it together.

Ahh! Yes! Perfect! Maybe Path of Mind to suggest not to be here. And the bugs leave. You have to not use it on your travel animals...

Thought about Mind but its specifies Sentient so I can see it not being allowed on some vermin. That said I have used it in the past.

Repairs are handled with Restore Matter. Lesser Restore can handle minor repairs, but Greater Restore is needed for more intense ones.
A clever mage might be able to make an all-in-one water + pest repellant with Lesser Transform Matter, turning water at the edges of the area of effect into a noxious gas of some sort. That will handle rain, and so long as there's water vapor in the air it will produce an effective barrier against insects and plenty of other creatures. It will be a bit uncomfortable to pass through the barrier, but it won't be particularly dangerous. Failing that, Lesser Destroy or Lesser Control Matter for rain and the like, Lesser Destroy or Lesser Control Body for pests. Up to you if you design it as two rituals or one. |
