Default Change race/class curse during combat

Hello, my group is debating about using the curse change race/class during combat, yes it can be played at any time. Specifically if the victim is using gnome and uses a monster from there hand to count it's level towards their own, if someone curses them to change race does that mean the level from the monster they use to aid them goes away too?

In general, combat bonuses generated by class or race discard abilities are retained if you lose that class or race. Technically, the Gnome is discarding the monster, so the bonus would be retained if the race is lost.

The monster would go back in hand or discarded too?

The monster the Gnome discards becomes an "Illusion" combat bonus.
The monster card remains on the table to represent the bonus until the combat is over when it is discarded with any other cards that were played into combat.
