Default Curse vs Steed Effect

During my last game I had the Raptor Steed and was affected by "Curse! You Incurred Hera's Wrath" and I was forced to run away.

The Raptor Steed states if I run away I must discard it and my escape is automatic.

The curse states I automatically fail my next run away attempt.

My question is, does the Raptor Steed overwrite the curse and I escape or do I suffer the bad stuff and lose my Raptor Steed?

Please do not bump threads. Your question is going to require a bit of research and discussion, so it may be a few days yet before we're able to get back to it. If it has been another week and you don't have an answer, you can post a link back to it in this thread and that will flag it for consideration. Thanks for your patience.

FWIW, my take is this:
  • You were forced to run away.
  • The raptor's effect triggers by the decision (in this case being forced) to run away.
  • The raptor gets discarded, and you succeed automatically without actually making an attempt to run away (roll of the die).
  • As you didn't make an attempt (die roll) the curse's effect doesn't trigger and is lingering around for the next time you need to attempt to run away.

That's my take. Andrew might have a different one though.
