Would "BT" also work for Bio-Tech?

Also, let's not forget Spaceships and the upcoming Dungeon Fantasy: Dungeons. SP or SS for the former, DFD for the latter?

IMO SS is better; DFD is obvious. I dislake BT, since the three-letter one makes things more obvious without looking it up here.

I agree, especially on the BIO vs. BT.

Isn't "BT" the abbreviation for "Blood Types"? I know that's a 3e book, but the connotation lingers...

According to this page, Bio-Tech has two official abbreviations, BIO and BT; however, BT is also Blood Types (a book for Gurps 3rd ed.). So my guess is Bio-Tech used BIO for 1st edition (for GURPS 3rd ed.) , and BT for 2nd edition (for GURPS 4th ed.).

Would someone connected to SJGames either confirm or deny this?

Note that for 4th Edition the only official abbreviation is the B for Basic. All other references in 4E books use the full name. This is for clarity (is BT Biotech or Blood Types?) and ease of use. In 3E some of the later abbreviations were very non-intuitive while others fit several books equally well. The end result was people had to look up the abbreviation to see which book it referred to. Which defeats the purpose of using abbreviations.

That said, I'd go with BIO for Bio-Tech.

A general use one that I was recently reminded of: IBTL (In Before The Lock).

How often does that come up?
