You know, the only specific rule comment I ever recall seeing regarding "defending" against an attack from the figure's rear hexes was the "shield slung on your back provides extra armor against rear-hex attacks" thing. Other than that, Eyes Behind provided an advantage that changed your rear hexes into side hexes and your side hexes into front hexes, which obviously helped, but that's about it...

if chinese or japanese cinema are any guide to this game (admittedly debateable), then very skilled swordsmen can parry a rear attack with a sword, and can obviously stab someone directly behind them .. maybe with the highest level of fencing mastery (or whatever its called)?

If I wanted those tricks, I think I'd make them additional talents.
They do seem in line with the UC IV benefits, which new ITL has at 7 points, while weapon master takes 6. Hmm. |
