Giant Animals
Hello,
I figured that since our gaming group cannot make a decision on the effects of an "Enlarge" type spell affecting a Bombadier beetle. We do not know how much we should scale up the effects of its acid spray. It is known that it ejects a boiling hot slurry of Hydrogen peroxide and other fun compounds. We figure that in our Dungeon Fantasy Style game, it should be doing around 2d or 3d Burn or corrosion, but should it also extend the damage with a Followup burn of 1d or 2? Sorry for the vagueness of the question, I know it's very opinionated, we just thought we could get the opinions of the Hive mind for some other points of view. |

Re: Giant Animals
My initial thought is more flaming bug juice = more damage in a bigger area. Of course, you could add cyclic and say it's a dire bombardier beetle! That's this neuron's opinion, at any rate.

Re: Giant Animals
What is a normal sized Bombadier beetle's attack capable of killing and how big an area does it cover, in relation to it's size? Then scale up from that. So if it's the size of a small dog, my guess is it's probably not dangerous to adventurers. If it's the size of a rhino, it could be lethal to an entire group.

Re: Giant Animals
Since a mundane bombardier beetle doesn't cause more than mild burns and irritation to human flesh, you would need to make one rather large to cause any injury at all. Then again, the magic used to enlarge an insect to impossible size probably boosted its defense mechanism to handle large threats, anyway.
