But that takes time and effort!

By the time the gray sets from OM#2 show up, I'll be at twenty sets of #1. Way more than I will ever think about needing.

I chalk it up to forty years of unrequited lusting for these little plastic minis. It drops me right back into my high school self in terms of the way they make me feel.

That's the plan eventually! It's the mismatch on glowy that bugs me more than anything, since it'd be a shame to cover that up entirely.

And cripes Mack, I thought my pile was insane. I blame Desert_Scribe, their big battle scenario captured my imagination so I went big right out of the gate just in case we never got a Set 2. And now I'm on the hook for "Too Many Minis" every time, to keep my force consistent. :D

I should kick up to 16 sets just because of painting plans [think NFL Home and Away uniforms, so that I have either 16 single-size or 8 double-size forces...at least until we get "PE on the offensive" sets], but that's going to make for a scavenger hunt every time a new set comes out. Hence why I'm crossing my fingers for just one more color...being on the hook for a '3 of each color' kit, that'd bump me up to an even 18 without having to go hunting for orphan sets.

I've done a few of the GitD units using just my previously described dirt wash (black leather dye in denatured alcohol base). They still glow, they look used, and the toylike sheen is gone. A little detail paint and they'd look even better.

I think I saw pictures of those somewhere...BGG maybe? I've been thinking about ways to use the glowy plastic as part of the paint scheme...part of a tiger-stripe or a camo pattern, using solid colors [or the plastic itself] as trim, etc. Maybe even radioactive battle-damage, everyone is tossing nukes at each other after all...

I did show dirtied armor over on BGG ... but at that time, none were the GitD set.

Yowza. I'm at 11 copies of Set 1 and 10 of Set 2, and I thought that was a bit much. :D To compare with Stig's:

6th Edition
Set 1: 11 [2 Std / 2 Rev / 2 Green / 3 GitD / 2 Gray]
Set 2: 10 [2/2/2/2/2]
Ogre Designer's Edition: 2 (Both Kickstarter editions)
Ogre 6th Edition: 2*
Reinforcements: 2*
Hill 218: 2*
Ogre Pocket: 1
Uncommon Ogres: 1
ACD Exclusive Sheet: 1
BGG Overlays: 1
BGG Units: 1
Nihon Empire: 2
Nightfall: 1
Barbarians at the Gates: 2

Legacy Products
Battlesuit (pocket box): 1
GEV (pocket box): 1
Combine Set 11: 1
Combine Set 12: 1
Fencer Cybertank (loose): 1
GURPS Ogre: 1

Products with an asterisk are unopened and will likely be gifts this year, because nothing says "Christmas spirit" like giant nuke-equipped cybertanks. As for dice, I've got 34 (8x blue PE, 8x red Combine, 2x green PE, 2x green Combine, 2x black PE, 2x black Combine, 4x GitD PE, 4x GitD Combine, 1x white PE, 1x white Combine).

I wish there was a way to get the white dice without buying 6E, but them's the breaks. I can't see using anything in 6E with the huge amount of cardboard I already have from ODE. Sigh.

Depending on how often you take Ogre on the road, it might not hurt.

I got 6E first, but when I get around to hunting an ODE...likely mid-summer at this rate...the 6E will take over for Pocket as my 'traveling copy', and pocket will get moved to 'Play it on the train or something, where even 6E is too big' detail. The comprehensiveness of ODE is its coolest aspect, but also its biggest drawback...my cell leader has one, that box is enormous.

Come May, I'm going to have 50 plastic cybertanks. Whoof.

I plead the 5th.

Edit: Or in this case, would it be pleading the Mk.5th?
