Re: [Psionics] [Space] Psi Trek - Worldbuilding
But not muon-catalyzed, right?

Re: [Psionics] [Space] Psi Trek - Worldbuilding
For something to evoke ST, I'd want to keep the matter-antimatter base as personally unrealistic as I feel that would be for a non-superscience setting. But the devil's in the details.
Perhaps some pseudoscience to explain the temporary creation of antimatter.

Re: [Psionics] [Space] Psi Trek - Worldbuilding
I don't see any GURPS differences between the various types, to be honest, so the choice comes down to which fluff fits the setting best.

Re: [Psionics] [Space] Psi Trek - Worldbuilding
The difference is rather academic, though the products are the same. While muons allow for lower temperatures, they cannot be stored and are more difficult to produce than positrons, so it is probably better for power plants. While positrons are easy to store and produce, they require higher temperatures, so it is probably better for weapons.

Re: [Psionics] [Space] Psi Trek - Worldbuilding
Since the Enterprise carried over 300 metric tons of antimatter, I think that the explosions on the show were too modest. By comparison, that is the equivalent of over 13.2 teratons of TNT in explosive force, which should vaporize anyone within 100 km of the explosion.

Perhaps psionic wormholes which bleed antiparticles from a mirror universe.

That's not only a good background bafflegab, but also creates story potential of a very Star Trek-ish type.

Huh. Interesting idea. That might also be where we get a dilithium McGuffinite from: natural crystals that are essential components of the device that makes those wormholes.

I read somewhere that the right kind of topology on a wormhole will turn matter that travels through it into antimatter.
