[WWII] AM Dodge 4x2
Automitrailleuse Dodge 4x2 Armored Car
The Dodge Brothers 1.5 ton truck was used as the basis for this armored car. Ten chassis purchased from Egypt were field-converted and armored during the period of 1940-41. The trucks were used in the French colonies where production facilities were unavailable for other armored cars. The trucks were employed by the French Army, Vichy France, Free France, and finally Syrian forces. The truck is sometimes referred to as the Tanake. The truck has room for one driver and four passengers. The driver and one passenger can sit in the cab, while the remaining three gunners are in exposed seats on the top/bed of the truck. The truck has a range of 150 miles and burns 2.6 gallons of petrol per hour of routine usage. A full tank of petrol plus ammo costs $652.70. Subassemblies: Small Wheeled chassis +3; six Wheels +1. Powertrain: 58.3-kW Standard gasoline engine with 58.3-kW wheeled drivetrain; 18-gallon standard fuel tank; 4,000-kW battery. Occ.: 1 CS Body, 1 PS Body; 3 XPS Body Cargo: 3.9 Body Armor Body: 4/20 Wheels: 3/5 Statistics: Size: 18'x8.6'x8.8' Payload: 1 ton Lwt.: 5.12 tons Volume: 36 Maint.: 112 hours Cost: $3,174 HT: 10. HPs: 250 Body, 15 each Wheel. gSpeed: 45 gAccel: 3 gDecel: 10 gMR: 0.75 gSR: 4 Ground Pressure: High. 1/6 Off-Road Speed. Design Notes: Design loaded weight was 9,092 lbs.; this was increased 11% to the historical. Chassis weight, HPs and cost were doubled to bring up the design weight. The design purchases a 15-gallon fuel tank, but the historical capacity is shown. Design gSpeed was 54 mph; the historical gSpeed is shown. Weapon loadouts are a guess based on historical cargo capacity.
