Default Magery and Innate Attack skill

Hey, does Magery add to Innate Attack skill when using the skill to direct an attack created via magical spell?

If it was a case of an ability with magical limitation and with magery as the power talent, it would add, but alas, above it's not the case.

Edit: OK, by RAW I think it doesn't, so my question comes: should it?

As you found, it does not.

As to the follow up question:

Short answer: No, it should not.

Long answer: Unlike typical power based builds where the power talent affects a fairly low number of things, magery often gives a bonus to several dozen spells and is thus really too low price at 10 points/level compared to other talents. Giving it even more effect thus seems the opposite of balancing that.

But in the end such things are up to the GM to balance.

In my games I allow a leveled perk that allows appropriate skills to benefit from Magery. Innate Attack is one of the options. it works quite well.

I allow Attribute Substitution perk to base it off IQ which helps spellcasters some

Not really. However, the Psychic Guidance perk from GURPS Magical Styles allows you to use your skill with the spell to make the attack roll.

No. Magery is enough of a good deal. The reason why a power talent boosts your Innate Attack with a magic innate attack is because really there's nothing else for it to do. Having a power talent won't help reduce your fatigue cost, let you cast silently or reduce your failure chance apart from inaccuracy.

Either way is fine, but be aware if the implications. It will emphasise Different spells and combat style.

I disagree that magery is 'too good of a deal' and instead say that any talent costing more than 10/level is broken unless it covers a staggering number of both iq and DX skills and has a useful reaction bonus (reason IQ! costs 10/level and DX! costs 15).

With that said magery does not add to your spell attack skills, because it does cover a staggering number of iq based skills, controls access to higher level magic, and increases your maximum damage with ball spells. Having it cover other skills is asking too much.
