[Basic] Flexible Armor Over Rigid
OK, as a result of some stuff in another thread this question poped into my mind: If for some reason I have Flexible armor layered over rigid, such as a human wearing a Mail Coif with the skulls DR 2, what happens when I suffer Blunt Trauma to that location?

Re: [Basic]Flexible Armor Over Rigid
Just treat the combination as rigid armour. The chances of having to apply the blunt trauma rule with low-tech weapons and armour is pretty low anyway.

Re: [Basic]Flexible Armor Over Rigid
Your skull is also surrounded by flexible material, known as skin. Your skull DR prevents dain bramage, but, you still end up with a terrible headache, and a question of how you got blunt trauma with only 2 flexible DR.
As far as actual armor goes, you completely negate what makes the flexible DR actually offer DR in the first place. |

Re: [Basic]Flexible Armor Over Rigid
By RAW, what happens is that you suffer injury based on the amount of damage hitting the flexible DR, so the underlying rigid DR has absolutely no effect (DR doesn't affect injury). Realistically, what happens is that the protective value of flexible armor is dependent on having space to flex into, so its DR is reduced if it's layered on top of something hard.
