Default GURPS Vehicle Builder *Error*

Is anyone out there having issues with the GVB software?

I upgraded to a new PC (Windows 10) , and now when ever I try to use the software I get all types of errors when ever I click on a button.

Errors such as:
Cannot open clipboard.

and another which is a
Access violation at address 00418DB4 in Module 'GVB.exe'
Read of address 000000010

I have tried operating it in Admin mode, different installation locations and various compatibility modes, with various levels of success, but the error does not go away.

Anyone have any comments or suggestions, or have seen this error before? More importantly any fixes?

Mind you, that the GCA software works with out a hitch.

Getting them as well. Running in compatibility mode does not fix it.

I get those on occasion and I'll tell you, the Cannot Open Clipboard error isn't that bad, as it just creates a duplicate min-statted version of the component.

The access violation is worse, as it basically makes exiting possible, but a simple close and reopen solves that rather well.

Another thing that you'll have to understand that the team that has made this program hasn't updated it for about a decade or so, as it doesn't include things like Transhuman Space among other GURPS settings.

Completely different software made by different software developers using different tools. The only connection between the two is that SJGames contracted with both to sell the software as official GURPS software.

I cannot get CVB to work either, and I have contacted SJG several times and no response.

This CD-ROM runs under Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, and XP. We regret there is no version of this program for any OS other than Windows.
Not really surprised to hear of problems on Win 10. I would try to run it in a VM running Windows 7, but that’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

OK all, I had the problem and was able to resolve it. It wasn't me who got the solution, but a gentleman whose name I will leave out (unless he lets me give him proper credit!).

This is for those using WINDOWS 10 HOME edition.

Because I failed to reboot when I did "one correction", I would like for those of you who do try this, to try one possible solution and reboot. If that don't work, try the second item and see if it works after rebooting. The two together is what I did (effectively) and it worked.

Step one: Left Click on Start. Look for the gear symbol (Settings). Click.
Select System. Select Clipboard.

If your Clipboard history is set to off, select the ON aspect (it is either off or on). Reboot your PC and retry the program. It may work then, or if not, you will need to do the next step.

Step two: Start up your Task Master. Look for Windows Explorer and select it. Right click on it and select Restart. Reboot

This is the video that I was given by the unnamed guy - and it set me on the path to try a possible solution. It worked for me!
