Default RPG.Net GURPS Threads Need Input

PSA. For those who are members of larger forums, there are two recent rpg.net threads that could use some GURPS experience:

* GURPS Monster Hunters...anyone run it? - https://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php...-anyone-run-it

* GURPS Infinite Worlds musings - https://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php...Worlds-musings

When I encounter such threads at my other stomping grounds I just point those posters here. It's easier on them to get better advice over here than to try to export all the experts from here over to there.

I would respectfully suggest that talking about it over there has the useful side effect of keeping GURPS content on the first page of a general forum. The game needs all the visibility it can get in the wider community.

If I could contribute to those threads, I would!

I approve of this message.

There's also a heavy problem with that being read as "We won't talk to you plebs over here on your dirty general game forum. Come over to our forum if you want to talk about GURPS with the grownups."

Even if people don't read it that way, people are lazy and most won't even bother looking over here, let alone setting up yet another account to forget the password to.

EDIT: GURPS labors under the impression that GURPS players don't exist because we're just not very visible on the general forums. Similar to the problem that people think that GURPS books don't exist because they don't see them on the shelf at the store, or the PDFs at the big general RPG PDF stores, or on the Humble RPG Bundle.

I also find the populations of different forums to have different viewpoints, and I'll go to different forums to solicit those different viewpoints. This is especially true when I know that a forum dedicated to Game X has strong and unavoidable viewpoints about Game X that obscure the issue I have, I'll go to a different forum to get a clearer discussion. Sometimes the users of a dedicated forum can't see the forest for the trees, and the users of a more general forum have a better vantage point.

Absolutely true. This goes back to Phil's "echo chamber" link upthread.

I'm taking this one. I'll see what I can do to help the poster.

I'm a university teacher in American cultural studies and I'm having a hell of a time explaining to my non-American students just how real the Echo Chamber is, how pernicious and easy it is to fall into it. So, naturally, I heartily approve this message.
