Default Helping another player win with no gain for yourself?

Hi All,

We were playing a game last night, and a player was at level 9 and fighting a monster to win. They could not win on their own.

Another player decided to help them win, but was not in any position to gain anything by doing this. They were not going to get a joint win.

Is there anything about helping someone win if it means you will lose? It seems to me a very un-munckiny thing to do. Basically losing on purpose.

Thoughts?

It is not against the rules as written. It is kind of unmunchkinlike, as you point out.
