Default GURPS Dungeon Fantasy 6 Artifacts and Signature Gear

I'm wondering how this works exactly. Let's ignore the part about buying the item, but let's say instead the delver found the item and now wants to have it be signature gear. Should they figure cost to pay it normally and then add that many points of Signature Gear or what?

Thoughts are appreciated.

If that's how I ran Signature Gear, then yes. Figure the total of Signature Gear's cost at whatever the cost of the item is.

I think this is where the change in DFRPG to making Signature Gear being a Perk to protect the Gear and you having to pay for the item normally really shines, because Artifacts, by definition, have no market value, any values you might get are for the underlying item without any supernatural powers.

I agree with scc but, if you want to do it the hard way, take it's value as a power item, look up the lowest dollar value for an item with that power, and divide by $500 for signature gear.
