With that in mind, here's an alternate path:
This path looks great to me, except we need a train. :)

Do people use things like Militia often in their games? I can't rememebr ever using them. If they won't sell except to completist collectors it is not worth it for SJG to produce them, in metal or plastic.

I would back a KS for COmbine units tomorrow.

Missile Cruisers, Heavy Weapons Infantry, LADs, Hovertrucks, MCP, GEV-CP and Ogre MK I & 2 the day after.

Mk III-B, VI, Doppelsoldner, Huscarl any time. Ninja and Vulcan I'm ambivalent about. Maybe all of these could go in a set of Ogres and other cybertanks.

I've scoured my mind (being a model railroader) and the internet. Beyond 3D printing, there just aren't options for a futuristic train in anything near 1:300 scale.

There's a semi-available commercial scale called "T" scale, but it's 1:450, so using those trains would be akin to using an N scale train on an HO layout.

Where would you put it? Set 3, and then do a "Combine" version in Set 6, maybe?

Yeah, that's why I've got them so late, in a theoretical Set 7, alongside buildings. I consider such a set to be for scenario creators.

I'd put it fairly early, actually. Considering the train has been a focal point since 1978 (and oddly missing in G.E.V. Deluxe from 2000), it's been sorely lacking for a very long time.

In the Ogre Doomsday Edition, the Ogres will have actual computer brains in them.

Take a look on the bay, search on “Bandai train zz”. A little expensive but very workable. They are 1/300 scale.

D'oh! I have no clue why this eluded my thoughts. Some of us likely already have trains we could potentially use. If you have a "Ticket To Ride" game, try using those little train cars. Not entirely ideal, but cheap, and they are available as replacement bits.
