straight-up last-man-standing events. To that end, there was usually room to run away from a ramcar -- or worse, to deploy DWs in front of it, and really ruin his day. (I saw one ramcar which lost all four tires to a "Checker- board of Doom" DW field, and rammed an arena obstacle at full speed; the ruling was the ramcar -- and driver -- had Become One With The Obstacle.) A checkpoint event makes ramcars scarier, as there's always places where cars have to converge -- usually at speed. But I consider checkpoint events Racing, and would run one under Racing Rules.

*as well as all weapons with dropped-weapon characteristics* are *BANNED*. That means no mines, no spikes, not even smoke or paint; and if you think you can slip a Mine Flinger or Grenade with Impact Fuse by, guess again. I had to impose this after one too many (read: One) "race" which ended the moment the first car crossed the start/finish line -- said first car being in essence a _VG1_ Bodyguard with racing gear on it. Not Fun.

Re: The Unoffial 2056 Vehicle Guide
We've played Hammer Downs where your weapons are locked until you make a jump which makes it a race event until everyone jumps and then a last man standing.
Another way to play a checkpoint event is to impose a "no-drop" zone around the checkpoints. Make it large enough and you allow for vehicles to access the checkpoint but still allow for dropped weapons in the event. |

the first guy over a given jump will reduce the landing area to a no-go zone; not to mention there's nothing stopping him from making more than one jump (and he only has to inundate *one* ramp to render the jump useless). Quote:
blocking the ramps, so little of the arena floor was usable by DWs, it became simpler to just ban the things outright. (Put it this way: Lux; 1 SD ea B, and L or R; ext. mag.s on both to 1/3-space limit; ramplate.)

Re: The Unoffial 2056 Vehicle Guide
I have one more! It fits under the cost of a division 25. You see 'ol Uncle Fred had too much mini missile launchers sitting around from when the Boy Scouts of the New America wanted to fit them on their go carts. So he figured - why not cram as many as he could into a Luxury car and give it good acceleration? It also has excellent handling and both the gunner and the driver have targeting computers to give each mini missile launcher a 7+. Only problem is - you probably want to have a few dice ready to roll. As I said crazy 'ol Uncle Fred thinks these weapons are more powerful than he thinks they are...
Here it is! The Needler... The Needler, designed by Toltrin Luxury, Heavy Chassis, Sport Power Plant, Heavy Suspension, Puncture-Resistant Front & Rear Tires, Driver (Body Armor, Targeting Computer), Gunner (Targeting Computer), One-space Turret, front: 5 MML, back: ESS, turret: MML, 5x Weapon Link (MML link - all at once.), Fireproof Armor F20, R16, L16, B16, T14, U10, Accel. 10, HC 3, 5347 lbs, $ 22785 Last edited by Toltrin; 06-12-2009 at 02:12 AM. |
