Default Age and Aging and Extended Lifespan...

I am trying to figure out the example given in the GURPS character book and so far the numbers they give are not making sense, perhaps you folks can help.

They say, on page 42 that an average life cycle starts with maturity at 18, with aging at age 50, 70, and 90. Each level of Extended Lifespan doubles those numbers.

That would give you the following chart:

Base 18 50 70 90
Lv1 36 100 140 180
Lv2 64 200 280 360
Lv3 128 400 560 720
Lv4 256 800 1120 1440
Lv5 512 1600 2240 2880
Lv6 1024 3200 4480 5760
Lv7 2048 6400 8960 11520
Lv8 4096 12800 17920 23040

It then says that if you take more than 7 levels of extended lifespan, giving maturity at age 2304 and aging beginning at 6400 you should take unaging.

As you see on the chart I made, that level 7 is 2048, not 2304. It is not a big difference, but it *is* different and I wanted to know if this is something that may need to be submitted for errata, or if I am not including something that would account for the discrepancy.

36 × 2 = 72, not 64.

Your first column of figures ought to be

18
36
72
144
288
576
1152
2304
4608

Sorry. If it's any consolation, we all make arithmetic errors with these stupid Hindu-Arabic numerals.

We should switch to metric numbering so it'll be easier to do the arithmetic.

Clearly the problem here is the flawed base-10 system. We should switch to base 2.

There's an important "however" here. It's that reaching adulthood at 18 is a 0 pt Feature. This may not have been noted before Bio-tech but it's definitely in that book.

Few Races except for D&D type Elves would take the extended Juvenile period. That's just one of those things that makes Elves less survivable as a Race in spite of their perfection.

Juvenile doesn't mean self destructive idiot. It means not sexually mature.

Yes? Exactly? That means they're not part of the breeding population, but are still a drain on resources. That cuts down your reproduction rate.
