Default New Project

So, I've been doing stuff since the Corona virus hit. One of the things I've been working on is stuff for Ogre. I found a 3-D printable nuclear reactor, but no 3-D printer. A buddy of mine just got one, so he volunteered to print a couple for me.

Then I started working on cities! Using the bases my buddy printed, I started gluing on parts. I've been collecting little plastic parts for over 20 years. I figured I'd do something with them some day. Today is that day!

And since I had Cities, I needed Destroyed Cities. I had destroyed Epic ruins not doing anything, so I cut them up and glued them some Bolt Action bases.

More to come!

I can hardly tell the origins of the components used in this cool kit bashing!
Did you cut out the hexagons yourself?
Are you going to decal or paint them (or both)? I bet you can find some good decals at a hobby shop that has model trains for sale. Just an idea.

Most of the components are just junk. Toothpaste tube caps, computer port covers, power cord caps, you name it! I'll post pix of some of them unpainted, that might give you some clues as to what stuff was. My buddy with the 3-D printer spun up the hexes for me.

Not sure about decals. Yes they would be cool, but I was sort of going for an understated look for them. Will definitely give it some consideration.

So here are the photos of the cities unpainted. Maybe you can get an idea of what I'm talking about when I say they are just junk.

Maybe just a decal that identifies it as a nuclear power plant or an admin building. Imagine a nuclear symbol on the nuclear plant as an accent.
You and Jamie (myth-busters) have caught the kit bashing bug! Remember old electronic chips from motherboards and old cell phones make great accents too. :)

That's a brilliant use of what would otherwise be junk. Well played, sir. :)

Here is a pic of the nuclear reactors.

And a new pic, the radar dish. This is a hex miniature base, a swizzle stick and an electrical plug cover.

Would buildings from model train sets work? You could cut them down to size and all.
Next you should find a way to make train tracks easily.
Then kit bash some armored trains for train scenarios.
:-)
