Barrels turned on a lathe ... hmmm......

And when someone says that, my answer is, go on then, show us what you made. ;-)

I work nights, so on my nights off, I usually end up laying in bed awake anyway. So last night I mentally deconstructed a Mk. III and tried to define how many parts a kit would need. I stopped someplace around 175 or 180 -- so we'd be talking a rather complex little kit in 1:72 scale (which, for the record, would be about 10.5" long -- 267mm).

Lots of ideas for scratchbuilding one, too. For example, the tapered barrels of the Secondary Batteries could be made using small paint brushes as starting points.

One of Winchell Chung's artworks, when scaled at 74% (on my monitor) gives a nice 1:72 scale image to gauge from.

Does anyone have a plan view of the Mk3 or Mk5? Side, top, front, back? I've been looking for a while now and all I get are angle views. Winch has some on DeviantArt but they're obscured by side by side comparisons of other units.

I'd like the same for a GEV as well. Just plain images so I can scratchbuild these. The GEV is probably going to be in 1:35 with figures / crew and will be Winch's "old" sleek GEV, not that BUFF thing that passes for a GEV these days.

Other than Chung's website, the closest I have found is the free PDF that SJG offered during the ODE KS (can I possibly use any more acronyms in one sentence?).

http://www.sjgames.com/ogre/img/ogre-po-lineart.pdf

That gives you some rough side and top views, but they'd need heavy clean-up to be usable for say, laser cutting.

If you don't have a laser cutter, then the way I'd start would be by carving foam into the shapes needed: you'll need to break down the Ogre into basic components that would be glued together.

It would be a lot of, but it's doable.

Well that is absolutely cool. What scale are you working to?

15mm, which works out to be approximately three times the dimensions of the official SJG units.

Not a macroture, but it is a lot bigger than the official miniatures.
