Ordinary Magery does not. The RPM version of Magery is not the same advantage being applied to a different style of magic, but a different advantage that (confusingly) has the same name and price.

In preparation for my GURPS/Harn setting, I've bought Ritual Path Magic pdf and I've also got Thaumatology. I understand Thaumatology is a toolkit approach like GURPS Basic, and that I only need to read the sections I'm going to use.

The trouble is, as far as Thaumatology is concerned, I'm not sure which sections I need to read.

Harn Priests: Ritual Path Magic
Read the entire pdf

Harn Shek Pvar: Thaumatology
In particular I've been advised to use Realm Based Symantic Magic.

I'm not sure exactly where in Thaumatology Realm Based Symantic Magic is. Could someone please tell me which chapter/section I need to read please?

Thanks all.

That's because the "Magery" in GURPS Monster Hunters and in GURPS RPM is a completely different thing from the Magery in the rest of GURPS. It was a huge communication mistake to re-use the name, because of all the confusion it causes.

As opposed to having a Realm Magery? Or a Threshold Mana Magery? GURPS regularly uses "Magery" to mean "Has access to magic." The rules for how that Magery works varies from magic system to magic system, and they are rarely compatible with one another. I don't find it particularly weird to see "Magery" re-used in RPM as the "How talented are you with Magic."

For that matter, it doesn't really offer a form of Energy Reserves, not in the original sense. Instead, RPM uses the Energy-Accumulation system from Path Magic, and the "energy" discussed in RPM refers to that, not to the classic "Spending points of fatigue" sense.

That is a vast exaggeration.

The only people confused (generally) are those whom have never read either Monster Hunters or RPM and stumble across a discussion.

Yeah, but it crosses well. As long as the GM drops the "refills automatically" portion of Energy Reserves.

Have to ask, what is wrong with using the basic ritual magic rules in Characters with the Harn setting?

Is it considered too flashy, or something? I admit I'm very new to GURPS but I don't see much wrong with it.

Nothing. It should work fine (I know nothing about the Harn setting).

I don't know. I've never used it, it doesn't ever seem to fit my needs.
