IN Japan - primary reference?
I am working on a Japan IN campaign setting, but I can't find the details of canon IN Japan.
I know the Ethereals cut a deal with Hell to pay tribute in return for protection. But where in the books is that described? I've searched the forums and looked at the obvious places int he books, but I can't find anything about it. I realize even the primary reference may only be a sentence or two. When was the deal set up? As a response to the Purity Crusade? Does it mean that angels can't go there except at great peril? Are there still Tethers to Heaven there? |

Re: IN Japan - primary reference?
Liber Servants (can't spell right now) has an Ethereal based on swordsmanship.
Superiors 2 details Nybass, and his section on Ethereals gives an overview of his interactions with them. CPG, Rev4 - The Marches, and the EPG all give an overview of various Ethereal pantheons. I *think* (can't check) that they all reinforce each other; there's no shocking revelations in one lacking in the others. |

Re: IN Japan - primary reference?
My thanks.
It looks like the problem was that I was looking in the indexes and searches for Japan and kami instead of Shintoism and The August Prosperity Collective. I think I've found the references I recalled: The Marches p 104 Game Master's Guide p 86 Ethereal Player's Guide p 114, 116 Superiors 2 p 121 Liber Servitorium p 85 Liber Castellorum major p 83-84, 93 minor p 80, 95 Core Rulebook minor p 59 Reading these it looks less like a high level treaty and more of a tendency for kami to cut individual deals with Superiors or demons, especially Nybbas these days. edit: Liber Reliquarum p 98 - Amaterasu's Mirror Very briefly discusses the Purity Crusade and the kami allying with Nybbas Last edited by cptbutton; 11-22-2015 at 08:20 AM. |

The focus on anime also makes sense for the In Nomine writers because it was more popular at the time, particularly among the geek types us gamers tend to be. I never got into anime myself as a genre though I do have one or two works that caught my eye. I'm glad of it, since I went into Japan with a lot fewer preconceived notions about the culture. The real country bears only a passing resemblance to its media. Glad that you find it inspiring.
