And with that, I'm reminded of the old Groucho Marx tune:

"In a place called Omaha, Nebraska,
In the foothills of Tennessee..."

Yes, it's called Eastern Oregon. ;) You did mean the desert climate, right?

No I meant the mountains, and the ocean. The desert kind of grates on me. Especially when it's more steepe then real desert.

Real desert? You mean less then ten inches of rain a year? Or are you talking about ground cover and terrain? If you want dunes, playas, arroyos, etc, OR has all those features. You just need to look in the right places. Mostly, go down to the SE part of the state- it's the driest region.

It does, but my favorite places are oceans and mountains.

I have the same preference, I suppose. I do like a drive through the high desert now and again, though.

Ahh, eastern Orgeon, where every step brings out the sound of rattles rattling, and the entire ground moving as one (grasshoppers).

I much prefer the rainy greens of the Portland region.

And for me high mountain desert is home. Though I'm just as comfortable in forests. Many more places to hide.
