If you add a brim and cheek guards then I'd probably give the No Peripheral Vision penalty anyway - just to stop munchkins.

It definitely does, and I'd probably make frowny faces at it (or go with DanHoward's suggestion). I was just throwing out some options.

Ultimately, if you boil the question down to "better vision or better noggin protection,"and I'm going to come down on saying that a character who mixes it up a lot and has allies to fill the perceptual roles should err or the side of his noggin. Smart fighting and positioning can mitigate (even if not eliminate) No Peripheral Vision, but it has a harder time doing the same to a lucky random headshot.

Or add a plume or crest. Of course that makes you look like you have a plume of crest coming out of your head....
