Dragon Steed
The Dragon steed says that enhancers will work on it, since it already flies, talks, and breathes fire. Does that mean the new enhancers added in DeRanged will not work on it either, even though they do not grant these abilities?

Re: Dragon Steed
I think he's refering to the 3 new steed enhancers in de-ranged, one of them (vanity plate) has a drawing specificly being used on the dragon steed even though the dragon steed says you can't use steed enhancers

Re: Dragon Steed
No, they won't. "The Dragon Steed cannot be enhanced" is crystal clear -- you cannot play Steed Enhancers on it.
I'll have to pull out and check the Munchkin 4 and 5 rules, but I believe they address the question of playing regular Item enhancers on Steeds.

Re: Dragon Steed
I understood what was being referred to, and as was said then and now, the Dragon Steed can not be enhanced by Steed Enhancers.

Re: Dragon Steed
The art never dictates the rules, only sometimes clarifies things (the Blowgun from Munchkin Fu is the best example I can think of at this point). Contradictory art happens occasionally, but, again, never does the art define the rules. If Vanity Plate said it overrode the Dragon Steed's rule, that would be different than using the art to say that it overrode the rule. Andrew and I have stated, and SJ himself has been quoted, that no Steed Enhancer works on the Dragon Steed, and that is the final, official word on the matter.

Re: Dragon Steed
I kind of thought that art did dictate rules sometimes, like how an Assassin gets a bonus for every gun he possesses. When you blend Munchkin Impossible Booty, Assassins get that bonus for muskets, even though those cards don't say they are guns: it's the picture of the gun that makes it a gun and gives the bonus. Likewise, a Samurai would get his sword bonus if she were using a cutlass, also because of the picture of the sword.
I'm not contesting the ruling about enhancing the Dragon Steed, only suggesting that the Vanity Plates question was a reasonable one. Last edited by Munchkin King; 02-14-2014 at 12:31 AM. Reason: clarification |
