Default DF (Dwarf Fortress) in DF (Dungeon Fantasy)

Having initially misread the Templates in GCS thread title, I was inspired to throw out the idea of Dwarf Fortress creatures as potential monsters to put into a DF game. Henceforth, DF refers only to Dungeon Fantasy, Dwarf Fortress will be spelled out to prevent confusion.

The Giant Cave Spider (GCS) is the Acid Spider of DF2, with the following changes:
  • Add Symptoms (Paralysis on 1/2 HP damage) to the follow-up attack
  • Remove Super Jump
  • Add Binding (ST 12, Sticky, Jet, Takes Recharge: 5 seconds)
  • Add Perk: Does not stick to spider silk (their own or any other)
Giant cave spiders are normally found in mountainous areas, and generally build their nests in caves or along cliffs, where the lack of space and the poor light increases the odds of something stumbling into the sticky webbing. It also means that most things large enough to threaten them have a hard time reaching their nests.

When moving through an area that a giant cave spider is nesting in, you encounter a strand of web on a 3 or less on 1d each 5 yards moved (or each turn while in combat). A DX or Acrobatics roll can avoid becoming entangled, if you can see it (Vision+4, minus any penalties for darkness). Once you've become tangled in a web, the spider (if present) will become aware of you on a roll of 12 or less, rolled each round you do anything but stand perfectly still (which, if you know anything about giant cave spiders, should require a Will roll). The webbing resists attempts to break loose with a ST of 12.

Unlike acid spider venom, giant cave spider venom is not particularly useful for making grenades, but counts instead as Monster Drool. A single, freshly killed spider can yield 2d doses.

Cave spider silk is also very valuable. A single nest can yield up to 3d pounds of useful silk, worth $100 per pound. The stickiness and the need to avoid tearing it too much means it takes about 12 hours to clean out a nest.
