Default The Amazon as a wandering monster

I don't have the cards in front of me at the moment, so please forgive me if I use the wrong name/term for something.

Anyway, my two friends and I were playing last night, when all of a sudden I encountered a level 13 monster that, at the time, was too much for me to handle. So, I asked my friend (who, in real life is a girl) to help me. She agreed and we were able to overpower the offending monster. That is until my other friend played a wandering monster card and brought out an Amazon.

I understand that when fighting multiple monsters, you have to defeat their combined strength, but on the Amazon card it says that she doesn't attack women. In fact, she gives them treasure! A few turns earlier, my friend had also changed my sex so I was also playing as a female.

We weren't sure what to do, exactly. My real-life female friend and I both took a treasure card, and then buffed up our stats to kill the combined strength of the offending monsters.

But since an Amazon doesn't attack women, was that the right thing to do? And what if only one of us was a male character? What would happen then?

Thank you.

Amazon won't fight if there's at least one female character in the combat. She leaves one (1) Treasure in that case and leaves the combat. That one Treasure gets drawn when all the other Monsters are defeated.
